Fireproof

Adoni Jesus. Fireproof my marriage, my thoughts, my actions, my faith, my soul, my eternity! Linda, the kids, and I all went to see the movie Fireproof last night. If you need a cliff notes, you can read or re-read my previous post " I saw the light ". Needless to say (if you've been reading) the movie hit real close to home. I can honestly say the movie has some great truths in it! It is a wonderful movie! I would encourage anyone to go see it. If you are married, please go with your spouse to see the movie even if you have to drag them! The movie deals with some REAL LIFE issues. I praise the Lord for being able to go such a wonderful movie in a day and time that needs so much of the content that was packed into it. I pray that you have the opportunity to go see it and you are blessed by it. I know the film is full of truth because I've lived it. Thank you Lord for your many blessings! God Bless, Alan

Timely Message

Our pastor has been going over a series of messages that are titled "Problems that Perplex" . This was a timely message for our family. We have been have some disciplinary problems with Tyson. This points out the awesome message of 1 Peter 5:6-10. I'd encourage all to listen. 1 Peter Chapter 5 Verses 6-10 Sunday, April 27, 2008, 2:00:00 PM Dr. Jeff Beshears Sunday morning Apr. 27th 2008 - v 6-7 We must confess to God our weakness. We must admit our pride before our Lord. We must accept our place before our Lord. v7. We must commit to God our worries...worries we face in life and worries we face about death. v. 7-9 We must commit to God our watch-care. His watch care is valiant, vigilant, and victorious. Please keep us in our prayers as we do our best to fulfill our duties as parents. Proverbs 22:6 Ephesians 6:4 God bless!

Walking in the Spirit

This was originally part of a comment I made on another blog. I decided that it should be posted here. We must continue to WALK in the Spirit. Yes, we have to WALK how the Spirit leads us, BUT WE have to WALK! Christ has given us a higher law than the law of Sin. We must walk in the power that He gives us. Our pastor used the example of the law of gravity. Gravity is always effecting us, but they are higher laws that can defy the law of gravity. Just as a plane gets enough speed, the law of aerodynamics takes over and supersedes the law of gravity. In this same way Jesus Christ has given us the POWER to walk in the SPIRIT and NOT according to the flesh! For all of those that give their life to him, we have that blessing! I'm posting a section of Galatians 5. I don't like to post just a couple of verses because you don't see the whole context. Pay close attention to the first three because the next are probably very familiar to you. I believe that sometimes familiar verses a

Very good message

I encourage everyone to watch this sermon by William Blackburn. Brother Blackburn is a God Fearing man that is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. He doesn't preach at the over-the-counter strength. He preaches the full Master Physician prescribed dosage. William Blackburn - Court of No Appeal I would also encourage you to browse around his website. www.williamblackburn.com

Focus Factor...

Over the past several months my job has demanded more and more of me. I've had to miss a lot of good Wednesday night services and miss a lot of time with my family. I honestly think that I have let my focus get diverted with worldly ambition. I can tell that my lack of focus has paid a toll on my entire family with our attitudes, our conduct, and our kindness. I ask that you whole heatedly pray for me and my family that we would regain our focus on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray that we all seek the truth that is found only in the Word of God. Matthew 4:4 (Jesus speaking to Satan in the Garden) But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” Philippians 2 Imitating Christ's Humility 1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being

God + "__________"

Does God alone make us happy? Not many people would ever admit that they need God plus something to be happy. But the truth is that many people do....... Being raised in a Christian home and in a community that is religious I probably said "I only need Jesus to make me happy" thousands of times. The truth of the matter is how I lived my life proved that I didn't really mean that. You see I was like so many other religious people in the fact I needed God + "_______" to make me happy. My blanks may have been something like: good grades, health, friends, money, husband, kids, house, job that pays well, car, or food, etc. Over the past few months I have really experienced TRUE happiness and TRUE peace. Its not of any material things that I have or even my family and friends. Its because I no longer rely on any person or thing for happiness. Sure I have people and things that make me happy.(I will not bore you and list them here.) Its just now that I'm saved I vi

John 8:44

Have you ever thought about the fact that many angels were deceived by Satan? They lived with God in Heaven and were cast out along with Lucifer to the Earth. What about Eve? She walked and talked with God in the cool of the day and yet she was deceived by Satan. Her and Adam were both cast out of the Garden of Eden soon after. Why is it that we often feel that we could never be deceived by the devil? We have this attitude that we would never fall for any lie or trick the devil told us. Are we giving the devil enough credit? Have we forgotten that the Bible tells us that Satan is the lord of this world and has blinded the minds of the unbelieving? (2 Cor 4:4) And that he masquerades as an angel of light. (2 Cor 11:14) He wants nothing more than for us to feel comfortable and secure in something that is a lie and false. The root of deception is that fact it blinds us to the fact we have been deceived. He does not want us to see the truth that is in God's word. Why? Because he wants

I bet this lady is from Arkansas!

A man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger printed, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects. He said, 'I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up b

8 years and the flu!

Alan and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary on the 4th. I use the word celebrate very loosely, because that is difficult to do with 102-103 temp. We went to see the Hogs play Florida last weekend and I came home with the flu. Alan came home from work on Tuesday running high temperature too. He too had the flu. Im better. Alan is still blah, but hopefully before our 9 year anniversary comes around we can celebrate this one without a thermometer and a bottle of Motrin.

Homework and monkies

My kids love hearing stories about mine and Alan's childhood. (Times that Alan went camping, I went fishing with my dad, we went on vacations etc.) They have their favorites in which we have to share on a regular basis. Im saying all this to give you some background so you will better understand what is ahead..... Tyson was working on his homework. He brings his assignment home on Monday and its not due back until Friday. What a blessing!!! Tyson has learned that he likes to get it out of the way first thing, but this week we have had a house full of illness causing a slight delay in getting started. Tyson is learning homophones. He had worked through the first few pages and got to the last set of homophones. (their, there, and they're) He answered the questions and then had to write 3 "funny" sentences that contained at least two of the three. He asked me for help, so I just said first you need to think of something funny and then just write your sentences from that.

Just some questions......

These are a few questions that have been stirring in my mind for several months. 1.Can one actually receive Christ and not live for Him until years later? 2.Can the Holy Spirit dwell in someone for 5, 10, 15 years and it not change a person? 3.What does it mean when someone says "I have been saved for many years, but NOW I'm ready to get serious about my faith?" or "get serious with God" Many people state a similar tale.... Raised in Christian home, saved at an early age, lived like a "normal" teen, experimented in college, got married and had some kids, and NOW I want to get real with God. This concept is somewhat disturbing to me. It is disturbing because that is how I was living my life for so long. Have you ever made a profession of faith? If you have look at your life 5 years after that moment..... are you 5 years more worldly? or 5 years more Christ like? do the same thing for 10 years? 15 years? And so on... God starts working on or molding His

SURPRISE!

We celebrated Alan's 29th birthday yesterday here at the house with a SURPRISE party! It was a blast. Alan had to leave around 4 to go hook up Jeff and Ashley's wireless internet for them. As soon as he left the house I called Ashley and she headed this way to help me set up. Joanne and Brian showed up around 4:30 to help too. Heather and Tim brought the sandwiches. THANKS for the help guys!! Then the other guests arrived around 5:30. Alan was due back any minute. We heard the garage door and like a bunch of fourth graders we turned out the lights and yelled SURPRISE when he walked in. He smiled and shook hands with the guys and we dug into some grub! The kids piled on my bed and watched Hannah Montana while the adults played a game of The Newlywed Game. Alan and I came back from scoring 0 points the first round to taking home the WIN in the end. We shared, laughed, prayed and celebrated! It was a wonderful time.

Step Aside Martha Stewart.....

Zoe wanted to cook dinner tonight. The menu was Cubed Steaks (minute steaks), Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Bread, and a Susan Cake for dessert. She had a good time. She surprised Alan and Tyson with everything when they came home from basketball practice. Zoe stirring the corn. Zoe makes the best Mashed Potatoes!! YUMMY!!! We all enjoyed the delicious dinner. Thanks Zoe!

Bible Belt

Matthew 7:21-23 . I was born and raised in the Bible Belt . Everywhere you look there are churches, crosses, Christian books stores, God Loves You on bumper stickers, little fish symbols on the back of 4 out of 5 cars, everyone goes to church, everyone claims to love Jesus, everyone is talking about this Bible study or that Bible study......BUT why has none of these people came and knocked on my door out of love and concern to share with me Jesus Christ? The answer is that everyone here in this blessed region of the country thinks because their neighbor goes to church and can paraphrase some scripture that it means they are saved. A thing that happens many times here in the Bible Belt is we are taught the answers to the questions BEFORE we understand what we are being asked. I came across this article via Notes from the Trail and I thought it was a very good read.

The Gospel of John

We recently had the opportunity to watch the movie The Gospel of John. The movie is the entire book of John in (I believe) the God's Word translation with each character speaking their part. The movie's scene selection is based on chapter and verse. It is truly a wonderful movie. http://www.gospelofjohnthefilm.com/ With all of that being said... It truly amazed me how many times Jesus says, "If you love me, keep my commandments." He repeats this over and over! It is my prayer that his words are ever present on our hearts and minds. Praise GOD for his amazing love! There are many wonderful truths in this Gospel. I recommend that you (re)read the book of John. Why are you still reading here??? GO START NOW!

Good Week....

I have had a really good week so far. I have gotten to correspond with my really good friend about how we are ultra sensetive to sin. How we used to do things that we would not think twice about doing OR just justify doing it. Now we ask ourselves.... Should I do this? Is this right? It was just encouraging to talk to her and I feel blessed to have her as a friend. I love you, V! Also, I have had contact with my former BSU director. While I was in college I was always active in the BSU or BCM(depending on how old you are). Over the past few days I have been flashing back to the memories I have from my college years and just hanging out at the BSU. Even though I was not a Christian at the time I still enjoyed being around the other students and the staff. We had an awesome time. We had F.I.R.E.(Faith In Real Experiences)on Wednesday nights and that is when we would have Bible study each week. One thing Jeff taught us was that no matter where you are in your life(high school, college, work

2007.

A year of Salvation!!! A year of restoration of my marriage A year of almost perfect health for the entire family A year of many missing teeth A year of a new home A year of new friends A year of trying new recipes A year of blessings 2007 will be a year that I will never forget. Its a year that marks the beginning of my life. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature ; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
